Vita

Stages • 1965-1972 studied art education at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Berlin, then worked as an art teacher, since 1975 freelance painter and draughtsman 

 

Awards • 1995 Olaf Gulbransson Prize, 2004 Berlin Book Prize for the book "Prinz Tamino" in the children's book category, 2013 Göttinger Elch (Göttingen Moose), 2015 Sondermann Prize 

 

Commissions • numerous cover pictures and leaves for the satirical magazine "Titanic", pictures for books by Axel Hacke, Max Goldt, Flann O´Brien, Rudyard Kipling or Elke Heidenreich, painted the marginal figures for the 2001 feature film "The Fabulous World of Amélie", was one of the first German illustrators to illustrate a cover for the "New Yorker" in 2002
