Bilder der Ausstellung

André Schulze entwickelt seine Arbeiten zum Großteil von Fotografien, die er auf Reisen und in seiner näheren Umgebung gesammelt hat. Motive, die ihn interessieren, sind Orte, an denen man in der Regel achtlos vorbeigeht, Gebäude, die langsam verfallen oder ganz aus der Landschaft verschwinden: Güterbahnhöfe, Stellwerke, Fabriken, verlassene Häuser, funktionale Gebäude. Dabei reizt ihn der Gedanke, die Orte malerisch weiter zu denken und mit anderen Eindrücken und Details zu kombinieren.

André Schulze is an East German based artist. He grew up in the early 80’s in the German Democratic Republik which influenced him to work with the landscape and architecture in his East German and East European country. On cycling trips around his hometown Dresden he collects photographs from industrial architecture, rail architecture, nameless buildings and typical houses and landscapes of his region. In his Studio he takes all the different influences into paintings with the focus on concentrating on the essential. André Schulze’s intention is to show East German architecture which is slowly disappearing from the landscape. He likes the beauty of ordinary and industrial architecture to transform them into realistic oil paintings with surreal situations from architecture, landscapes and animals, always with a touch of irony and humor.
